Butterfly House

In Melbourne’s inner-southeast sits Butterfly House, a Victorian Italianate double Storey Villa, where robust materials seamlessly link inside with the out. Having lived in the house for over a decade the client was seeking to better conceptualise their current living expectations. Neil architecture reimagined the current home and provided new spaces on top of a basement car park that would suit their family of 5. Mod Cons were engaged to provide a solution that would be aesthetically pleasing, and that would comfortably service both the old and new parts of the home.

An AirSmart Indoor Environment System was fitted with refrigerated cooling through the home. The brief from the architect was to provide seamless and invisible air delivery so this was delivered through Flangeless linear grilles throughout the whole home. Bathroom ventilation was also installed which provided both heating/cooling requirements and wet area extraction through one seamless linear grille. Hydronic heating provided the main heat source through the new and old parts of the home.

Butterfly house was published in The Local Project issue No 15. We are very proud to have Partnered with Neil Architecture and Koorool Constructions for this incredibly timeless family home.
